Disque 9
Disque 9 was a project between Keith Fancy and Mary Timony. It was not well received, judging by the reviews the album got. Their label decribes it thusly: Keith Fancy's latest project, "a strikingly unique musical trip into the unknown" (DETOUR), a collection of nightmarish sonic landscapes. Drugs-sex-murder-s&m-torture & Helium's Mary Timony on additional vocals.

Led Byrd
Led Byrd is Mary Timony and Ash Bowie and their four track. They are more of a "side-project" than a band per se, but their work does not suffer from only being a "side-project". Their two releases are on compilations, with a third track that is Led Byrd, but not listed as such. The first track that appeared as Led Byrd was on a compilation called Extra Walt! The song is a little more stripped down than Helium. The ultimate pop hook of this song is a Casio demo. The vital ingredients are Mary's voice and guitar, with Ash's inventive rhythm section. The second track is perhaps more droney than Helium, ending with a keyboard and guitar loop. The third track Led Byrd recorded was under the moniker Helium with the Bird of Paradise. This appears on a Kill Rock Stars compilation, and is a little more fuller in sound than the other two tracks. However, it also features prominent keyboards like the other tracks. Led Byrd hasn't released anything recently, but once Mary said in an interview that they are planning on releasing a CD sometime in the future. Let's hope.
