The Mary Timony Band put out one record, on Kill Rock Stars, called The Shapes We Make. Both Devin Ocampo and Chad Molter are listed in the album credits, but this trio played in this formation before putting out the record in 2007. To promote the album this line-up did a small tour when the record first came out, but for the long, intensive tours, it was Joe Wong who played drums for the Mary Timony Band. Wong had filled in on drums with Mary before, in the Ex Hex era of tours. The Mary Timony Band toured a bunch in the latter part of 2007, and then was very quiet until they played a handful of dates in Spain in 2008.

This dreamy, guitar-laden record was the only thing that the Mary Timony Band put out under this moniker, and music fans wouldn’t hear of any new Timony-written material until 2009, with her new band Soft Power.
